The 5th Saxon Skilled Workers Symposium with FDTech

On April 23rd, we were guests at the 5th Saxon Skilled Workers Symposium in Leipzig and provided insights into the Chemnitz model project “Business meets School” at one of the 6 themed tables.

Our Team, consisting of Lars Georgi, Head of Network Management VEMASinnovativ; Silvio Wortmann, Co-Founder / Training Manager FDTech GmbH and Felicia Kollinger-Walter gave practical insights and talked shop with interested guests.

Lars Schaller, Managing Director of Unternehmerverband Sachsen e.V., welcomed the almost 130 participants to the main topic: “How do small and medium-sized companies find and retain the skilled workers of tomorrow with a special focus on students at Saxon universities?”

Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Peter Wald, Professor of Business Administration with a focus on HR Management at HTWK Leipzig, gave an exciting keynote speech on how companies and graduates (don't) find each other.

In the subsequent panel discussion, renowned personalities spoke: Prof. Dr. Tobias Dauth, Rector of HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management , Max Pruy, student at the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau , Michael Tischer, Verband Sächsischer Bildungsinstitute (VSBI) e.V. and Head of Cooperation Management, Robotron Bildungs- und Beratungszentrum GmbH , Prof. Dr. Peter Wald, Professor of Business Administration with a focus on Human Resources Management at HTWK Leipzig; Susanne Witt, Managing Director of METROM Mechatronische Maschinen GmbH and Chairwoman of the Board of VEMAS e.V.

Mandy Baum, Head of Foundations, VNG-Stiftung, Mitteldeutsche Stiftung Wissenschaft & Bildung; Lutz Leonhardt, Head of Assembly, Logistics, Service and Franz-Justus Müller, Digital Manager Service Solution NILES-SIMMONS Chemnitz then provided current trends on the job market and impulses from the field.

The event was rounded off with impulses on various topics such as foreign students, cooperation between universities and SMEs, further education, drop-outs and how to get pupils interested in STEM subjects.

For us, FDTech, it was a good opportunity to exchange ideas with various industry representatives.
