Breaking Down Barriers: Embracing a Strengths-Based Approach Together

At FDTech, we believe in unlocking potential and creating an inclusive work environment where strengths take center stage. This week, we had the privilege of hosting the potential.werkstatt on the topic of "Living a Strengths-Based Approach Without Barriers." This inspiring event focused on the abilities of people with disabilities and how they can thrive in professional life.
Experts from psychology, business, social organizations, and society came together to explore opportunities, challenges, and best practices for fostering an inclusive workforce. The discussion was enriched by real-life insights from our very own team members.
In an engaging interview with Steffi Neidl, Silvio Woltmann, and Maximilian Dietsch, we explored how inclusion works in everyday life at FDTech. Maximilian, who uses a wheelchair, shared his personal experiences and professional journey with us. His story is a testament to how the right support and an open-minded environment can lead to extraordinary success.
Back in 2019, Maximilian completed a ten-week internship at FDTech, where he discovered his passion for software programming—a field his grandmother originally encouraged him to explore. This moment set the course for his future, leading to a qualifying degree program at BA-Glauchau. Together, we adapted our workspaces and processes to ensure accessibility, enabling Maximilian to fully integrate into our team. Today, we are proud to have him as a valued colleague, and his journey stands as a symbol of what can be achieved when talent meets opportunity.
Beyond our own experiences, we were honored to welcome Heiko Buschbeck and Anke Schubert-Unger from INVITAS Lebenshilfewerke gGmbH. They highlighted the significance of external workplaces, where individuals with disabilities can contribute meaningfully to medium-sized businesses, utilizing their unique strengths and skills.
Dr. Dr. Frederik Haarig provided further insight into the diverse experiences of people with disabilities. He emphasized that many individuals possess exceptional skills that often go unrecognized in society. A shift in perspective can uncover these hidden talents, benefiting both individuals and organizations alike.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to potential.akademie eG and all participants for shining a light on this vital topic. It was an honor to be part of this conversation, reinforcing our commitment to an inclusive and strength-oriented work culture. At FDTech, we stand for opportunities, collaboration, and the belief that diversity enriches us all.
